Understanding Class II

It is pivotal in parenting to understand that every child is unique, and will learn at their own pace. It is of prime importance to figure out your child’s strengths and accomplishments, to provide support while making their road ahead easier. During this time, children expand and explore new relationships at school, their language proficiency improves, and an acquired interest in key life skills including sharing, cooperating, time management, and more. Children usually at this age observe and understand symbols and concepts, and gradually begin to make connections between them. Learning takes a structured, organized, and routine-based turn during this age. Their mindset evolves in its curiosity spectrum, leading to asking more questions and a tendency to explore. Children are naturally curious during the age, added with an eagerness to learn. They make totally normal mistakes during the time, however, they will be able to distinguish between right and wrong. It is of paramount significance to retain their focus and interest by continuous encouragement. The active learning capacity of grade II learners needs to be maintained intact by creating a challenging learning environment for them.

Children at this age will go through tremendous changes including;

English

The English curriculum at IVSL has been crafted to improve the four vital skills of the learner. The precept here gives extra focus on, listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with added attention to bring out the best of these four skills through activities and games. Through a wide array of active, learner-focused, and exciting activities, the foundations of the four pillars are strengthened in children.

Listening and Speaking Skills: These are the most pivotal skills needed to develop the process of communication. Good listening skill lays a solid foundation for exemplary speaking skills. Through activities including, oral comprehensions, poetry recitation, storytelling segments, dialogue book activities, phonic sound assignments, classroom discussions, group discussions, role-plays, and listening and speaking activities towards chapter end, the communication skills of the student will be sharpened.

Reading Skills: Reading structures the mind and makes it comprehend more through consistent mental workouts. Reading, in this precept, is a regular task with an emphasis on correct pronunciation, voice modulation, stress and pauses, and more. For reading enhancement, our syllabus includes chapters dedicated only to the same need. Through reading sheets/ reading cards, pleasure reading books, comprehension passages, the reading attitude of the learner will be developed. During the same timeframe, recitation is a skill that is indispensable, developing a sense of rhythm and phonemic awareness among the children is considered a pertinent part of the same syllabus. Moreover, several recitation competitions are organized as a part of CCA to motivate children to build on their recitation skills.

Writing Skills: Writing is one task that will structure the thought process aiding in faster comprehension and other skills with the learner. Through a wide range of writing activities and games, the students are guided and motivated to express words in a written format to structure meaning out of it. Through word games, writing assignments, creative writing sessions, paragraph writing programs, project works, picture composition, sentence framing games, puzzles, and more, the writing skill of the learner is fueled and nurtured.

Maths

Having a strong grip in the world of mathematics would lay an intense foundation for one’s academia and career ahead. Math curriculum tends to focus primarily on developing mathematical, logical, and problem-solving skills. The syllabus will look into understanding basic operations, estimation, and mental arithmetic solely depending on the practical and conceptual-based approach. Here, the child will have to understand, analyze and apply strong emphasis on reasoning and problem solving which in turn will sharpen the mindset of the learner.

Computer

In the recent period, computers have become an indispensable item in our daily lives. Through the precept here, students are made familiar with computers as machines. Through an exciting course plan, the learners recapitulate different parts of a computer and its functions. By introducing net hygiene to the learners, they are introduced to the Dos and Don’ts of a computer. The learners are acquainted with different parts of the computer, its usage and they are molded to become more computer savvy by understanding the machine with precision. The students are also introduced to applications like Fun with paint Draw, Color Shapes and small projects based on these topics during their lab time.

Art Integrated Learning (AIL)

In the contemporary learning age, Art Integrated Learning (AIL) has become a completely indispensable aid when it comes to the learning experience. The AIL method is blended with every subject to give the learners a wholesome learning experience. Through the arts and with the arts, the technique here will bring in a passion from the side of learners towards the learning process.
